WAVELENGTH AUDIO COSECANT USB DAC W/DENOMINATOR MODULE - USED - $1,950 PLUS SHIP.
Terrific sounding USB DAC that uses a Ecc86 tube driven via transformer output that has received high praise over the years. We use one of these Dacs as a reference unit and love the natural clear sound the Cosecant delivers. This unit was bought new with the $500 Denominator Module installed ($4,000 total USD) that features:
"Denominator 32/192 DAC Module Based on the 32 Bit Sabre DAC Chip, the Denominator uses the best of the best. We start out with our ultra low jitter Master Clocks at 45.1584/49.152 to support the range from 44.1K to 192K sampling rates. The Sabre32 is used in what is called "Synchronous" mode in that the Master Clock and the Sampling rate are Synchronous. We use discrete power supplies for all the analog supplies and the Master Clocks."
This Cosecant is about 4 years old and except for some scuff on the bottom where various cones where use (in place to of the stock BDR cones which are included), is in excellent condition and in full working order. Comes with a very nice NOS Holland ECC86. Price is a fair $1,950 plus ship.
BY IT AS IS OR UPGRADE! The new DSD capable Quotient Module is now available for the Cosecant You can buy the dac as is or we can arrange to have Wavelength Audio upgrade it with your purchase. We have the new Quotient model in our Demo Cosecant (we are a authorized Wavelength Audio Dealer in case this is not obvious) and we have to admit it is a considerable upgrade for the DAC and very much recommended if not now, sometime in the future. The upgrade costs $750. Some info on the new Quotient Module from Wavelength Audio:
"Quotient PCM and DSD 32/384 DAC Module - Based on the 32Bit ESS Sabre DAC Chip and an FPGA Based DoP section the Quotient Q1 design allows the Crimson (soon to be available for the Cosecant) decode both PCM and DSD to their highest quality. The Sabre32 is used in what is called "Synchronous" mode in that the Master Clock and the Sampling rate are Synchronous. We use discrete power supplies for all the analog supplies and the Master Clocks. The FPGA automatically sets the ESS Sabre DAC chip into either DSD mode or PCM mode. The new analog section features a quad matched transistor output stage. In the Crimson this differential output is tied to transformers for single ended output to the tube stage. In the Cosecant this stage goes directly to the tube output stage."
