I sell a good condition EAR 834P Black MM Classic valve phono preamp. It is in perfect working order.
High voltage gain, almost 50 dB (ideal for MM or MC high output). Max. output, 30 V. Signal/Noise (ref. 1V output) 65 dB from 22 Hz to 22 kHz.
The 834P is truly one of the best phono preamplifier around for any money and is rightly regarded as a classic product. This model is the cheapest in the 834 range and while is less flashy than the more expensive signature models it is the same circuitry underneath but without the volume control and switchable MM/MC. It is enclosed in a tough, rigid metal case, and is fully "CE" type approved. The new list price for the MM only is $1695.
Michael Fremer, in Stereophile review, said: “Do you want a big, expansive soundstage populated by lush, full-sounding images? A rich picture you can sink your ears into without feeling as if a velvet cloth is muting cold pleasures on top? The 834P will give you that. As much as anything, what you're buying is the design expertise of Tim de Paravicini”
Tony Fafoglia, in SoundStage!, said: “… for me, the EAR 834P landed in that fine ground between detail and music-making. It delivers high value for the dollar based on its performance. Yes there are units that in some ways outperform it, but at two to three times the price. The question for me would remain: Does the price of some more-expensive phonostages really translate into more LP enjoyment? To my ears (no pun here) the 834P makes more music than the phono stages in some $3k preamps.”
I don't have the original box or manuals but it will be packaged securely for transportation.
