***PRICE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED FOR QUICK SALE*** (translation: i've just ordered a couple of items and am willing to take less for a quick and fair transaction.. Make an offer.. Thanks)! I am reluctantly selling this beautifully restored classic from the Golden Era of HiFi. Along with perhaps only the Marantz 7 & 7c, the Fisher 400cx2 is arguably the best sounding & most prized of all vintage, tube preamps. Point-to-point wired throughout, featuring several classic vinyl playback EQs (brilliant with those 78 collections), with an optional center channel, discreet & mutable tone controls.. this unit is an absolute pleasure & was in my main system until only recently. The restoration, was performed by a technician with significant experience with Fisher products (James Driscoll, a protege of The Fisher Doctor, Al Pugilese) and only high quality, radial electrolytic caps were used in critical areas to get the circuit values up to their original factory specifications (please see attached internal pics). The faceplate and jewels are in quite nice shape though there are a few small marks, and there is some siginificant pitting and discoloration on the unit's chasis and some rust on the bell top of the transformer and on a few contact spots on the chasis. These slight issues are not uncommon for these preamps and my low offer price reflects this (unrestored units sold on eBay routinely fetch more than double my asking price). A good deal of this can be sanded and touched up and if the unit is placed in a the Fisher wooden enclosure (not difficult to find for a nominal amount), you'd be hard pressed to find much fault with the cosmetics at all. The preamp has been restored via replacement of proper valued coupling caps and functions terrifically & sounds exceptional. Quality tubes are supplied with the unit (shipped separately), they include: 12AX7's: (2) Early 60's Dutch Amperex Bugle Boys, (2) 60's US Sylvanias, (1) 60's Telefunken (ribbed plate). 7247's: (4) Early 60's Telefunkens & a nice, rare Mullard EZ80 recitifier tube. Do to the nature of vintage electronics, the sale will be final, but I can gurantee that it was functioning terrifically, and up to spec only a few short months ago. At this time I will only sell & ship to buyer's located in the USA & Canada. Paypal is okay, but I would ask the buyer to cover an extra 3% to cover the PP fees. Thank you for looking! p.s. You would not believe how good it sounds, even surrounded by modern, state of the art gear!

Questions for the seller
I see you're in NJ. Would you be willing to drive the Fisher into NYC? Don't want to risk shipping damages. Thanks!
I'd pack and ship this very carefully, but yes, NYC is close, so meeting up to hand it off would not be a problem. Thanks! Marc
