Yes, these speakers are indeed as beautiful to look at as they are to listen through. The pictures do not do them justice, just as the countless positive reviews and owner comments on various high end web sites and publications cannot fully capture how great they sound. I would describe them as a speaker for true music lovers, rather than the typical audiophile speaker that sounds "impressive" in certain areas, but in the end draws more attention to itself than it does to the music. When you listen through the Ulysses, you simply find yourself racing ahead through all hours of the night, moving from one recording to another, lost in the music.
The Ulysses are dynamic and extremely efficient, which means that you can drive them with just about any amp you choose. I have driven these with great tube amps and great solid state amps alike, and they respond well to either. You will have a lot of flexibility with these beauties.
They are in superior condition with no dings, scratches, or blemishes anywhere in the breathtaking finish. I am rating them 8/10 only because I am the second owner. I also have the bases and the grills, which are included in the sale. I bought them from the original owner--who only had them a few months before selling them for non-audio related reasons--and had them shipped to Lou for the All-Poly Cap upgrade before they were sent on to me.
I also have the original boxes and packing material. The buyer will be responsible for choosing and paying for shipping, including insurance. I will be happy to meet halfway if you live within a reasonable distance to western North Carolina. Of course, you are welcome to come to my home to both see and hear them if you like.
I will be happy to answer any questions.
