Offered for sale is an amazingly good speaker at $12k when new (in matching grain rosewood). At $3800.00 for a gently used, very good condition pair, an unrivaled bargain. Using the same Esotar tweeter as the Confidence models, it gives similar performance for half the price (C-2's). These replaced my previous Confidence C1's and I was blown away by how much more air they moved resulting in much better bass and dynamics. They still soundstage like crazy. The best part is they don't really take up much more floor space as a little two way on stands. I don't see any flaws on the rosewood. The bases have a couple of very small nicks but you literally have to get down and get your nose within a couple of inches to see them and you'll probably need a flashlight. I just spent Saturday listening to the new Focal Sopra 2's, Wilson Sabrina's, Harbeth 40.2, KEF Reference 3's, and several other highly touted relatively new speakers. I'm not going to suggest that these S5.4 are better. Those are all new $14k and up speakers. But I am going to suggest that these speakers are very competitive. Shockingly so. Certainly worth your time to check out. Besides, how many of those speakers have you run into lately that are used for anywhere near this price? I am retiring soon and if you noticed my other postings, you can see that I am selling my entire system. I hope to travel for several years and I am reducing the amount of items that I intend to put into storage. Unlike my other pieces for sale, I do not have the original packaging or boxes. I have no interest in shipping these myself. That's why I have priced them so favorably. They can be listened to and picked up locally only, however, if you are interested in having them picked up, packed and shipped at your expense and direction, that could be worked out.
