I purchased this pair of Hawthorne Solos on Audiogon a few years ago. They are functionally perfect, but do show signs of wear that is purely cosmetic - some piling on the coverings. These are an open baffle design, fitted with Hawthorne's proprietary Silver Iris drivers. They can be upgraded to the Duet by adding subwoofers. I used them with a powered sub and low wattage tube amp. They are very efficient - somewhere around 97 dB, if memory serves.
In my setup at the time, these speakers produced a very large, deep sound stage, and smooth, natural, open sound. One loses the sense of the sound coming from a speaker source (the "boxy" sound). I thoroughly enjoyed these speakers with both vinyl and digital sources. They've been stored for a couple of years, but now I need to find them a good home. I don't have boxes to ship them - they are large and a bit heavy, so this must be local pick up only.

| Can you tell me what size the driver is and the components utilized. Ie. is it an aluminum, titanium, beryllium diaphragm? 15". No, no exotic materials. Please note this is local pickup only. I will not ship them.
