I am selling a pair of vintage JBL C34 speakers with the original components that include the highly touted N1200 crossover network. The sound of these speakers is really quite superb! If you are reading about these speakers and know about them, you know what they are and how good you will feel when they are in your house. These speakers were my father's and have been in my family for almost 47 years. They were never abused and they provided wonderful exposure to the family to high end audio. Regardless of the type of music you play through them, they never fail to produce a warm dynamic classic sound that cannot be reproduced with today's modern speakers.
The cabinets are in excellent condition but do show some signs of light wear. There are some scratches on the top and some dings. They are loaded with 130A Drivers + 175DLH - "Potato Mashers" and N1200 Crossovers. Famous rear loading horn enclosures are a perfect match for tube amps and vinyl.
"The number 34 enclosure will give you the exponential folded horn with a large mouth opening an effective length of 6 feet. Space is efficiently apportioned to give you a compact enclosure that will be welcome in the average living room. At the low-end of the Audio Spectrum the horn matches the impedance of the speaker for clean, flat base reproduction. Above the acoustic crossover point (150 CPS) The same speaker operates as a direct radiator. With the incomparable Koustical Lens taking over at 1200 CPS, the timber coloration, nuances and expression of the original performance are reproduced verbatim" from the JBL archives.
This listing is for a Pair of Rare JBL Korina C-34 Rear Loaded Folded-Horn Corner Console Speakers. The C34 is considered by many vintage audiophiles and collectors as one of the best sounding and overall a very versatile JBL speaker and considered by some as quite competitive with the C30 and the C31 as far as 2 way speaker systems go. It was one of JBL's longest running corner cabinet enclosures and made its debut in 1952 and continued into 1964/65 according to JBL catalogs.
I have posted a number of pictures of the speakers to accurately show the wonderful condition of these speakers. I have more available and if interested just ask and I will email them to you.
The speakers really do sound exceptional and the component complement of each speaker consist of 130A woofer, 175DLH driver/horn combination and a N1200 Crossover. Driven only with Macintosh tube amps (MC30).
I also have another JBL speaker from my father that I will include at no charge if the buyer pays my asking price. It is a the famed 16ohm D-130 full range driver in a mahogany JBL designed folded enclosure. I will post additional pictures after I pick it up this weekend.
