For sale - a sweet pair of KEF R500 speakers......I am the original
owner of this pair and they are indeed fabulous. I have a problem where I
need to get new speakers every year or two (and the significant other
indicates "1 pair in, 1 pair out") ....thus someone can benefit from my
dysfunction!!! These sound very nice and have KEF's well known UNI-Q
driver, which yields a very smooth midrange and transition to the high
end, all from the same point in space. There are reviews out there, so
feel free to research...there are also NRC measurements out there too.

I
would call the R500 the star of the R-series, assuming you use a sub
with them. You don't have to use a sub with them (they are -6 dB at 39
Hz) but if you listen to anything with content in the bottom octave, you
might want to. I went back and forth with using the sub or
not........most music doesn't need it......I listen to a lot of old
school jazz and rock from the 60's and 70's and for that, the sub is
superfluous. But if you enjoy electronic music (like I do), the
additional of a nice SVS SB13 Ultra works very nicely.

Enough
of that.....these are in fine shape, and have the rosewood finish. In
my opinion the rosewood is easily the nicest finish available in this
line.....but I guess this is all subjective.

I
have all the original packaging, grilles, manual, foam cushions, etc. I
don't really want to ship these.......but I could - I will split
shipping 50/50 and ship with whatever service you like (looks like this may be $60-$70/box, depending upon destination and insurance amount via FedEx - boxes are 60 lbs each, 16 x 12 x 47 in). Preferably, I
live in northern CO, and will meet you somewhere localish to pass them
off -  I don't mind driving an hour or two to make sure these don't get
manhandled by the FedEx types. I do want to make a trip to Santa Fe in
the next few months, so this extends my range a bit. Alternately, you
can come here see/touch/feel/hear them......your call.

Full
disclosure - I have had these for just over a year, and while they are
in great condition, there are a few hairline scratches on the tops that
can probably be buffed out - I haven't done this, because honestly, you
can't see them unless you are up close and you shine a light in the way
that reveals them.....mostly they look pretty pristine. Since I am
wanting folks to really know what they are getting, I attempted to take
photos from angles and lighting that revealed these scratches.....they
are usually not anywhere this obvious. There are also 2 small "dents"
close together in the front of one of them.....again, from 5 feet away,
you don't see them and it's an up close thing.......the last 2 photos
this first up close in the lighting that revels them, and then from a
few feet away. I would call them an 8.5 out of 10.....

Let me know if you have any questions or want additional photos.....
