Meadowlark Audio Shearwater Hotrod Speakers

Meadowlark’s very fine two way floor standers with the Hot Rod upgrades.
The Shearwaters have top quality Scan Speak drivers and the design
provides great resolution and transparency without aggressiveness. With
good amplification and setup, they’ll disappear with wonderful
soundstage and imaging.  Often called "the two-way lover's two-way".  Hot Rod
upgrades included Tara Labs internal wiring, Cardas solid copper binding
posts, top quality inductors, capacitors and resistors in crossover,
silver solder connections and improved damping in cabinet.

The speakers perform flawlessly, but have several cosmetic issues:

• These are among the first hotrods and do not have "hotrod" stenciled on the back of the speaker.  I have an email from Pat McGinty confirming the serial number to be hotrod version;


• The foam diffraction ring that surrounds the tweeters has deteriorated and has been removed;


• Both speakers have a number of minor scratches around the bottoms; and


• One speaker had about a two inch long piece of veneer knocked off of a corner that was glued back.  It is visible upon close inspection, but, as it follows the grain of the wood, is easily missed from a distance if not pointed out.  In the photos of the two speakers standing side by side, it is on the front right edge of the left speaker.
