First, I apologize for the lousy photography. I wanted to test these before I listed them and the home theater had the electronics - but it’s dark, had to use flash, etc. Anyway, I am the original owner of these Mirage M-1s which were purchased new in December 1989. They were the original version but were later upgraded with the bi-wire/bi-amp crossovers. They have been retired (i.e. not used) for at least the last 10-15 years, but have been carefully stored. When I recently hooked them up and listened after all these years, I remembered why I bought them. They are magnificent!
These were the flagship speaker from Mirage and are one of the legendary speakers of the golden era of high end audio. They were called “the speaker of the decade” by Harry Pearson of The Absolute Sound and also highly reviewed by John Atkinson in Stereophile. They are a bipolar (as opposed to dipolar) design with the rear drivers firing in phase with the front. This design eliminates the ‘beaming’ and ‘ringing’ of many flat panels. This is a very balanced speaker which only requires a small amount of space behind and to the side, so placement in the room is easy.
These are in very good condition. The piano gloss finish is without significant blemishes as are the cloth grills. The drivers sound great. Original cost (with bi-amp crossovers) $5,000.

Purchase Details: These are big, heavy speakers weighing 185 lbs. each. I have the original boxes, but because of their weight they can only be shipped by motor freight which would add significantly to the cost. I am highly motivated to sell these as I am shedding most of my audio gear (at 68 years old priorities change), so I am offering them as is for local pickup in northeast Tennessee. No returns will be accepted. Reasonable offers will be seriously considered. If you come to my house to pick them up, you can listen to be sure that they perform as expected. Then I will help you pack them in the original boxes and load them on your truck (yes, you will need a pickup truck). I will accept PayPal, but if you would prefer to pay by cash or cashiers check at the time of pickup, that is OK.
