Royd RR 1 - Exceedingly Rare - A Giant Killer

Reluctantly parting with my beloved Royd RR1s. Royds are rare to begin with, but these almost never come up. I'm reconfiguring my system and setting up in another room so these have to go.

Condition is very good, with a couple of very small marks. Drivers/sonics are perfect.

If you're familiar with Joe Akroyd's products you'll know what kind of sound these are capable of. Part of the revelation range of speakers, his final and best sounding designs.  Never distributed in the US.  Known in the UK and Canada.  

I have never heard a small floorstanding speaker better than these. Being Royds, huge attention has been paid to phase coherence. As such they not only image and soundstage like crazy, they have impeccable rhythm and timing. Utterly beguiling midrange presence and palpability. Gorgeous smooth and extended top end. And the bass is just incredible. Pitch perfect, foot-tapping, amazingly extended (for a small speaker) and capable of speed and agility that are world class. They will simply "light up" small to medium sized rooms. Addictively musical. Not only can you place them close to the walls/corners, they actually perform better that way. They are still small speakers though, so if you're looking to fill a big room or expect them to dish out huge SPLs these are not for you. Think of them as a world-class mini-monitor you place on the floor that happens to have incredible bass performance.

Best performance with John Farlowe era Exposure amplification. I've been running them with an Exposure IV DR and the combination is magical. The amp may be available as a separate sale.
