Sony SS-M9 Rare and Collectible

These beautiful speakers are from what many consider to be Sony's golden age in audio. Unlike many speakers from that era, surprisingly they can keep up with just about any modern speaker I've heard. Just had them A/B with a set of Bowers 804s and Sonys were better detailed and more full sounding. Even in imaging, they came out the winners throwing a huge soundstage.

I looked for a set of these forever as they dont come up for sale very often, specially in this finish as most are black. They are part of my "best of Sony from that era" collection that Ive been assembling for many years including the CDP-707ESD and TAN-77ES amp.

While they are not in mint condition, they look really nice from 3 feet away. The grills are perfect as they've just been recovered and the woofers were redone by Millersound and should last another 30 years. The tweeters and midranges are in absolute perfect condition and have been tested carefully. Upon close inspection you'll find plenty of light scratches and wear marks but they then to disappear in this finish color.

Ive installed some high quality rubber casters to make moving them around a bit easier as they are over 80 lbs each. They are made of 2" MFD in some places and no expense has been spared to get them super rigid. The coils in the crossovers (yes there are 3 of them in each speaker) are the size of my fist!
