Usher CP-8571 Series II Speakers with Diamond Tweeters
These are current production models that retail at $10,500. The finish is called “violin” by the manufacturer, but I think a more accurate description is a medium cherry. The face is a black lacquer. They are large at 4 feet tall, one foot wide and 30” deep. They weigh in at over 200 pounds each. The build quality is amazing. Everything on this speaker is overbuilt and top of the line. They were designed for Usher by Dr. Joseph D'Appolito, one of the USA’s leading speaker designers.
They have an 8” woofer, 6.5 inch midrange, a 1.5 inch Diamond-Metal-Diamond (DMD) tweeter. They have the ability to reproduce the finest details in your source material. They sound best when fed with quality electronics. Unlike many high end systems, these are an 8 Ohm load and can be driven by moderately powered solid state as well as tube amplifiers. They are in perfect functioning condition and very good physical condition. There are a few small scratches (mostly on the bases), but nothing significant or obvious. One peg (out of 4) that holds on one grille is broken, but it doesn't cause any noise. The remaining 3 hold it securely in place.
Here is a review of the speaker with the original beryllium alloy tweeter, which was replaced with the diamond version in this later version..

These speakers are unfortunately just too large for my listening space. While they are undoubtedly fantastic sounding, they do need a decent sized room for proper placement and optimum sound quality. I am switching to a much smaller speaker that can be easily re-positioned in the room.
I am the second owner. I purchased them from a relocating gentleman at a reduced price and I’m selling with that same discount. The book value of these speakers is in the $3900 to $4900 range depending on condition and finish. I’m asking $3499 for the pair.
These are big and very heavy. Each speaker weighs in at nearly 200 pounds. Local audition and pickup is obviously the best choice. I don't have the original shipping crates. If you think shipping is a good idea, I will do what I can to help you get them picked up, packed, and shipped. This arrangement is between you and the shipping company. There is a local Navis Pack & Ship that has safely shipped Martin-Logan CLS, Ohm F, Apogee Mini-Grands, and Magnepans across the country for me in the past.
