Hi. Price is for pair. I am the original owner. Used in smoke free house in dining room for background music during holidays. Very, very light use. Probably have about 30-40 hours on them. Excellent Condition. Superb sounding speakers for home theater or background music given the dipole/mono pole selection switch. Has great dispersion of sound in dipole mode and great imaging in mono pole. Tonal quality is warm—a good match with Sonus Faber speakers. I HATE to sell them—especially because they are no longer sold—but I'm moving and there's no room in the new house for them. :-(

TS-150 Surround Speaker System
Manual Download PDF
Since the surround speakers are vital to the recreation of a realistic sound field in home theater applications, Von Schweikert Audio has designed a world-class wall-mount speaker system with 180-degree dispersion and adjustable radiation pattern. The TS-150 features the Global Axis Differential Network which enables the speakers to recreate two different radiation patterns for both music and film sources. A side mounted button converts the radiation pattern from monopole to dipole operation: a monopole has a conventional, forward-firing radiation pattern, while a dipole has a diffuse, non-directional pattern.
Music and newer movies sound better with a directional monopole speaker, but the older movies using a mono rear channel sound better with a dipole design, as this style "bathes" the room with ambience; the sound is magically "everywhere" but is also highly focused! As the dipolar design mimics an invisible source of sound spread out across the entire room, many movie buffs prefer this type of sound, even with the newer discrete digital surround sources such as Dolby Digital and DTS.
The TS-150 is a reasonably priced rear surround speaker offering both designs with correct implementation. Finally, both music and movie lovers can agree: the TS-150 rules!
CONE ARRAY & ENGINEERING DESIGN
In order to bathe a large room with total surround ambience, the TS-150 is shaped as a wedge, spreading the sound over 180 degrees. A pair contains eight high quality, high powered drive units: on each face is mounted a 5.5" bass/mid and 1" tweeter. For timbre matching to other Von Schweikert Audio speakers, the TS-150 uses special diaphragm materials resulting in the highest Clarity Factor available. The bass/mids have mica-impregnated cones to deliver powerful bass, astonishing for their small size. For extremely high transparency, the Ferrofluid-cooled dome tweeters utilize two layers of synthetic vinyl laminated on the silk dome to eliminate distortion at high volume levels. Both woofer and tweeter designs utilize our Low Distortion Motors to handle the dynamic range and volume levels necessary for thrilling realism without compression or distortion.
The TS-150 can be mounted on the wall, placed on stands, or even mounted on the ceiling, facing down, enabling installation in any room. This model is available in Navajo White with white grills if you wish the speaker to "disappear." Other finishes available are: Black Ash, African Hazelwood, Dark Red Cherry, and Blond Maple, all with black grills.
System Type: Multiple application surround speaker suitable for either monopolar or dipolar use. A side mounted button is provided to select between the two radiation patterns.
Mounting Applications: The unit was designed for wall mounting. Alternately, the unit may be placed on stands or mounted on the ceiling, facing downwards.
Surround Applications: Suitable for use with Dolby Pro Logic, Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital (AC3), DTS, DTS EX, and all future formats for multi-channel movies or music recordings.
Monopole Pattern: All drivers will radiate in phase, with a wave launch facing 90 degrees from perpendicular; the dispersion pattern is 180-degrees with a highly focused image. Some experts claim that this radiation pattern is best suited for musical recordings and/or DTS encoding.
Dipole Pattern: A "null" created by an out-of-phase driver wiring technique enables the speaker cabinet to disappear as the source of the sound. An equalization circuit is provided to allow deep bass to be reproduced with the out-of-phase woofer wiring. Many experts claim this radiation pattern is best for movies, no matter what type of encoding was used, as the speakers mimic the "infinite surround" design found in movie theaters.
Dispersion Angle: 180-degree dispersion with either monopole or dipole setting, enabling even large rooms to be filled with ambient sound.
Woofers: Two-5.5" bass-mids per speaker, using mica-impregnated cellulose cones to reduce flexing and distortion for maximum bass impact and highest level of transparency in the midrange.
Tweeters: Two-1" tweeters per speaker, using fabric domes laminated with two layers of synthetic vinyl for strength and Ferrofluid liquid cooling for high power safety. Both drivers use our Low Distortion Motor to enable high volume levels to be reproduced without harshness or glare.
Crossover: Our proprietary Global Axis Differential Network enables either in-phase (monopole) or out-of-phase (dipole null) radiation patterns. Crossover point is 2.2 kHz. High quality air core inductors and polypropylene film capacitors are used to ensure very high transparency.
Power Handling: 200 watts nominal input (music power).
Frequency Response: 40Hz to 25kHz +/- 3dB, (60Hz to 20kHz +/- 1.5dB).
Sensitivity: 90dB @ one watt/one meter, 6 ohm nominal impedance (8 ohms compatible).
Size and Weight: 11.5"W(rear) x 3.5"W (front) x 11.5"H x 7"D. 16 lbs raw, 37lbs packed.
Warranty: 10 years Parts and Labor (excluding abuse such as burnt voice coils).
