Von Schweikert Audio VR-22 floorstanding speakers. Lots of positive reviews. $3,000 MSR

The VR-22 speakers you see here never seem to run of accolades being bestowed on it. It starts off with a bargain basement MSRP of $3,000. Add some incredible sound ability and these speakers are clear winners plain and simple. Each speaker is essentially a two way with one 8" woofer and one 1" tweeter. They are then cleverly engineered with their proprietary noise cancellation cabinetry and heavy bracing to bring out the best from these two drivers. Frequency response is an impressive 30Hz to 40KHz with a nominal impedance of 8 ohm and a sensitivity of 90dB. Its quasi-transmission design does add some smooth deep end bass and except for the more "hardcore" bass enthusiast, its pretty satisfying for most audiophiles. There is a rear port but speakers can sit very close to the rear wall if they are being used in a smaller room or needed some "boost" on the bottom end. In a medium to large size room, we did enlarge the soundstage by moving them forward. Imaging was nicely defined with a smooth flow of sound across the frequency range. Vocals were particularly exemplary with a very "soulful" resonance. Von Schweikert has designated the VR-22 as a factory direct only speaker which is why they were able to keep the prices low and that is a good thing in so many ways because we can enjoy them for so much less money. Speaker stands 40" tall, 16" wide and 12" deep.

Cosmetically, the speakers are in very good condition . There is a small rear corner ding on the bottom of one speaker (not on the base plinth but rather the corner edge of the "main column" where it meets the base plinth. Previous owner touched it up so its not really visible unless you look for it. We have the original box and they will be shipped in it. Local pickup from our store is welcomed.
