Selling to reduce the number of turntables I have.
Up for sale , a fully restored Minty Garrard 401 Turntable , set in a beautiful custom Woodsong plinth which has the ability to mount two tonearms , a 12" & a 9". This is a beautiful condition table, purchased in the UK, then shipped to Loricraft (owner of the Garrard name now) for a full and complete restoration from the ground up. This is not a Mickey Mouse job done by a retired TV repairman. The full restoration was done 18 months ago and consists of a complete stripdown , defective parts replacement and rebuild by craftsmen who worked at the original Garrard factory . In every aspect, as new in function and appearance as you will see.
The table runs beautifully & looks fantastic. Speed is rock solid. Rumble is vanishingly low , even through a stethoscope placed against the chassis. The plinth is veneered in a ribbon mahogany and is gorgeous. High-Rez pics are available. The plinth has one small blemishes - a tear in the veneer that Woodsong repaired(it came up during the initial build). In all honesty, it is hardly noticeable when you see this table. The armboards are made of a Purpleheart, Walnut/Maple lamination . One is setup for an SME mount & the other is unused/undrilled. The plinth has Stillpoints OEM feet . No arm is included but I can assist the buyer in obtaining an arm at close to dealer cost for most brands.
For all lovers of idlers & Garrards , this table is hard to beat. To replicate this, you would have to find a super-mint 401 , get it to Loricraft in the UK , wait 6 months for the rebuild/service , ship it back, then go hunting for someone who can make a beautiful, fully constrained layer plinth like this. I have multiple turntables and this one can run with the best of them , a true high-end idler table.
