"Although Hanson's Second Symphony, with its broad, Romantic theme, is the most popular, this writer would recommend the Third Symphony above it. It is a four movement work, broad in scope. At 40 minutes in length, it is the most originally planned and, to this writer, the most satisfying of Hanson's symphonies. It is full of dramatic ideas. These fit together to create a dramatic emotional progression, just like a great symphony is supposed to do. Like all of Hanson's music, the style is a slight advancement of the typical Romantic music style, with some 20th century nervousness in rhythms, but nothing that would be uncomfortable to listeners who accept Strauss or Ravel. - AMG.

Big, powerfull recording with a very wide dynamic range. The soundstage is wide and deep with highly defined imaging. Tonality of each instrument is accurate and instruments are highly detailed and have "air" and presence around them. Bass is deep, mid-range mostly neutral and high's are pristine. A very powerful performance and recording.
Surface noise (mostly "crackles") are low-level and audible only on the quietest passages.
