Offered here are hand crafted audio cables with either RCA (unbalanced) or XLR (balanced) termination. My goal in making these cables is provide high quality, custom made interconnects at a reasonable price.
The cable I use is Canare L-4E6S Star Quad cable. It was originally developed for use with microphones. It’s neutral, open character led a number of recording studios to begin using it for interconnects. I have been enjoying it in my home theater and office stereo for a number of years. The signal is conducted through paired, twisted, high purity copper wire. This design combined with a braided, tinned copper shield provides superior rejection of unwanted external signal
All ten colors of Canare cable are in stock, with longer runs generally available in black, white, red, and gray. They are made to your order, from fresh materials. Colored rubber rings can be slipped on the cables to provide channel identification.
The RCA connectors are also from Canare, their deluxe F-10 model. These are made entirely from brass, with gold plating on all conductors. They have satin nickel on the outer shell and strain relief spring. The dielectric is high quality PTFE. Shrink tubing is used to insulate the conductor from the external shell. The proprietary 360 degree cable clamping ring crimps securely to the cable for superior strain relief. My RCA cables are directional, with the shielding grounded at only one end for superior noise rejection.
For XLR connectors, I offer Neutrik XX series terminations with gold plated contacts. Neutrik has a reputation for making some of the best XLR connecters, and are an industry standard worldwide. The black shell is die cast zinc, designed to stand up to years of professional use. They feature channel identification rings in ten different colors.
All my solder joints are made with WBT 4% silver bearing solder from Germany. It features halogen free flux, and gives a very clean, strong joint.
My background includes many years working in audiovisual services. Wanting better cables for my stereo, I began doing some research, trying a number of different cables and connectors. After some trial and error, I ended up with these cables. They are quite satisfactory.
