"An active composer and an innovator on the electrified saxophone (using echo effects quite effectively), John Klemmer was also a very strong Coltrane-inspired acoustic tenor saxophonist. His solo saxophone recordings preceded smooth jazz and new age and his variety of projects earned him a great deal of crossover appeal that includes his music sampled by hip-hop artists of the '90s. Over the course of his career, Klemmer collaborated with a number of jazz and pop artists and performed the albums by Steely Dan, John Lee Hooker, Lauren Wood, Roy Haynes, and Nancy Wilson, among others.

1/2 Speed Master.
Lacquers by Stan Ricker of JVC.
Imported High Definition Vinyl.

The LP plays/sounds Mint++.
One of the better sounding pressings of this title. This LP has tremendous micro-detail - instruments that were not heard on other pressings are clearly defined on this one. The tonality of the Sax is cleaner and more transparent - less edgy - than most pressings of this title. Side 1 is excellent but Side 2 has the same level of detail but with much more openess, 'air' and presence.
Each record is washed on a VPI cleaning machine using a proprietary 3-5 agent process which is determined by the needs of the individual record. Each record is then listened to 100% to insure that the posted description is exactly what you can expect to get.
