"One of the most famous of all New Orleans jazz clarinetists, Pete Fountain has the ability to play songs that he has performed a countless number of times (such as "Basin Street Blues") with so much enthusiasm that one would swear he had just discovered them. His style and most of his repertoire have remained unchanged since the late '50s, yet he never sounds bored. This album is an excellent showcase for Pete Fountain in his early days. The clarinetist (who is the only horn in a quartet with pianist Stan Wrightsman, bassist Morty Corb, and drummer Jack Sperling) sounds typically enthusiastic on the Dixieland warhorses, turning "The Saints" into a march and coming up with fresh things to say on such songs as "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans," "Basin Street Blues," and "Tin Roof Blues." - AMG.

The record is NM-.(some minor "scuffs" which have no effect).

The jacket is Exc.

The LP plays NM+.

This LP has the Energy and punch that you would expect to hear from a Direct to Disk recording!
The recording is very detailed and represents the Clarinet, Bass and Drums as you would expect to hear them live. The Dynamics are outstanding and even though a Mono recording it has impressive depth.

An outstanding performance and recording!

Some surface noise - between cuts - occasional tick.
