Scott Hamilton's second in a successful string of Concord sets as a leader features the warm tenor performing nine standards (including "Rough Ridin'") and his own "Blues for the Players" with pianist Nat Pierce, guitarist Cal Collins, bassist Monty Budwig, and drummer Jake Hanna. Most of the tunes are of slow to medium tempo, with "I Want to Be Happy" being the one romp of the date. Superior mainstream jazz played by one of the first Young Lions.
