JE Labs FF Tube Preamplifier 76 Triode 6SL7 Phono Stage

Je Labs Full Function Tube Preamplifier This is a hand built version of the classic Joseph Esmilla preamplifier from JE Labs. It includes a separate power supply with double choke filtered DC as well as DC filaments. This in essence is adequate to power a DHT amplifier. The circuit itself uses one 76 triode per channel. Immediately followed by a 6SN7 cathode follower to insure low output impedance. This is an excellent sounding preamp section. The phono stage is a version derived from the RCA Handbook utilizing the 6SL7. I have installed two switchable inputs, which allows one to use two tables or tonearms. More specific design information is available at the JE Labs website. While this is not one of the quietest phono stages that I have heard it does offer some of the most tonally correct reproduction that I have encountered. The components used in construction include both Kiwame and Takman resistors. Vintage paper in oil capacitors are applied in every coupling situation throughout the unit. A nice and precise Alps Blue Velvet pot is used to control volume. Additionally, tube sockets are all high quality ceramic. All tubes will be included. The 76 tubes are a matched pair of RCA Cunningham. I find these to be even better than the Tung Sol but that is purely opinion. The 6SN7 GTB tubes are yellow- labeled Sylvanias with triangular plates. The phono section tubes are a matched pair of VT-229 Tung Sol with black glass. The silver label indicates these as the earlier version of the TS. I will also include multiple rectifier tubes. These offer a chance to tune the unit to taste as each has it’s own character. Included will be RCA 5R4 GY, GE 5V4 GA, and Sylvania 5U4 GB. This preamp has provided many years of enjoyment in my main system. It was a wonderful learning experience to build, which has propagated into my explorations into other designs. Thus it is time for someone else to enjoy this unit in their system. While the exterior is in very nice condition the interior work is of a home built nature. This will be reflected in the condition rating.
