LINN AKURATE DS FIRST GENERATION

Linn Akurate DS 1st generation stream player purchased new and took delivery July 2009. The unit had the Dynamik power supply upgrade fitted shortly after it was introduced and the firmware is the current Davaar release. Also features balanced or single ended outputs(XLR or RCA). Linn's first generation digital stream player has all but made compact disc players obsolete. Once you rip your discs to a lossless format (flac or wav are common) and hear them played through the DS, you will understand why Linn discontinued manufacturing CD players, including the flagship CD12. The DS plays files from low bit rate MP3 to .wav and .flac at 192KHz/24 bit word depth, which sound amazing! Love vinyl, hate the hassle? Archive your collection with a DSD recorder and convert the files for playback on the DS. Having access and playback control of your music collection from a wireless device or your PC while your discs are in storage makes this purchase easy to justify. I have rated the appearance conservativly 8/10 for a couple of minor scuff marks on the top of the casework that are hardly noticeable. The unit is complete with the original packaging and manual on disc; unopened Linn Black interconnects, power cable, and the remote.
