This is the Atma-Sphere MP-1 MK II preamplifier. I bought this directly
from Atma-Sphere several years ago. They had installed an extra set of single
ended outputs so that this preamp could be used as a review sample. The power supply
faceplate has a small dip in the surface, which I had repaired by an art
restoration company. I have high-resolution photographs so you can see
exactly what the preamplifier looks like. While cleaning the unit I
accidentally damaged the volume control. I sent the unit back to Atma-Sphere and
they have replaced the volume control along with a full electrical check out. They replaced a couple of filter capacitors in the power
supply and installed some new tubes in the phono section.
Please check Audio Bluebook prices for this preamp if you are wondering if this is a good price...

Questions for the seller |

do you know if you can use the balanced and unbalanced outputs at the same time? thanks Not if the single ended amplifier input you want to drive bonds the signal negative to case ground. I just measured my new second pair of amplifiers and the input is floating, so I could have done it here. Once when I was messing with another amp, it wouldn’t work. Ralph Karsten recommended a pair of top quality Jensen transformers to fix that, and I rigged those up so I could convert between single ended and balanced however I wanted to (picture of that added). That worked for me here. In terms of impedance and the ability to drive the outputs, this preamp can drive 600 ohm inputs. Most input stages these days are far higher impedance than that, so I don’t think you will have a problem from that perspective. |
