The core of the Rhodium series cable is comprised of a 4 AWG audiophile grade wire that is 99.99% OFC copper. The Silver Reference edition is further silver tinned for added resolution. Over 1800 individual strands of copper terminate with Locking Banana or spade.

The conductors are encased in a high-quality nylon sleeve filled with Micro Silicate Crystals resulting in a 1.5’’ diameter cable.

THE TECHNOLOGY

AWG is a calibrated scale for the thickness of electrical wiring. Most highly rated audiophile power cables use 10 AWG. Every two-unit decrease in the scale results in a cable that is twice as thick. DR Acoustics’ 4 AWG cable is therefore 8 times thicker than a standard 10 AWG cable (21 square mm vs. 5 square mm). The large cable provides additional space, resulting in lower electron friction in the cable. This friction from colliding electrons usually causes warming of electrical cables. The large diameter 4 AWG cable creates a clearer electron highway for cool operation and performance. Furthermore the size and geometry of the selected cable translates to maintained capacitance and inductance at non-measurable levels.

DR Acoustics’ Micro silicate filler process adds an unprecedented level of performance for speaker cables. The Micro silicate, which is a mix of quartz crystals and silicon tetroxide, serves as a dampening environment to prevent and reduce electromechanical noise that is produced by any wire that draws current. Electromechanical vibration is not easily ‘seen’ as it occurs in the 60 Hz to 45 kHz range but it does exist and can easily be measured by projecting a laser onto the current drawing wire and observing the subtle movement of the beam. The more power drawn, the more electromechanical noise increases.
