Hello,

If you are reading this ad you know that this is a rare and almost unheard of opportunity to purchase the wonderful and unique Artemis Labs SA-1 turntable designed by the great Frank Schroeder, as well as a matching Schroeder Reference tonearm that is wired with Audio Note silver wire and terminated with an Audio Note SOGON 42 strand 99.99% pure silver litz interconnect -- among the very best at any price point!

I am selling this magnificent outfit purely for financial reasons. I wish I could keep it!  So my loss is truly your gain.

Both the turntable and arm are in beautiful condition, matched only by the incredible sound!

The turntable comes with the original box, accessory record weight puck, specially designed accessory Stillpoints footers and three (3) extra magnetic tape belts from Artemeis (you can also easily make your own with standard magnetic audio tape!) and owners manual.  The buyer can decide if he/she wishes the turntable to be disassembled and put in the box or it should be shipped with the arm attached in a separate box.

The Artemis is a spectacular design that rivals the sound produced by turntables costing many times more.   It is built using a bamboo-layered plinth, the grain of each layer running in different directions, resulting in an extremely rigid, yet relatively lightweight, compact base, framed by solid ebony. Power is provided by a high-torque DC motor custom-sourced from Switzerland with precious metal brushes, with its own power supply, designed by John Atwood, driving a loop of magnetic tape. A variable tensioning pulley wraps the tape almost 360° around the platter, thus eliminating any pull on the bearing. This is truly ingenious and provides the best of all worlds – a belt drive that has the precision of direct drive, the immediacy of idler wheel drive, and the purity of the best pulley drives.

Other features include:

•   A 6.8 kg platter of anodized aircraft grade aluminum, turned to an extremely tight tolerance in all directions.

•   A composite material platter insert for an optimal cartridge/platter interface.

•   A massive non-inverted bearing with a large diameter, case hardened spindle and unusually long self-lubricating phosphor bronze bushings.

•   33⅓ and 45 RPM speeds, both finely adjustable.

•   A compact Artemis record puck.

In a review appearing in Stereophile, Michael Fremer said that the Artemis was “among the least congested, and most open-sounding, airy, and tuneful turntables I’ve ever reviewed—at any price,” Here are a couple of reviews and other information on the Artemis available online:

The tonearm is 239mm/9.4 inches, made of exotic Jacaranda wood, with an effective mass of approximately 14 grams. It comes with the owners manual and the spectacular Accu Trak cartridge alignment protractor custom-made for this tonearm by Ken Willis.

The Schroeder Reference is considered one of finest, if not the finest tonearm made.  This arm is very special. In addition to the use of famed and expensive sonically magical Audio Note SOGON silver wiring, there is a customized finger lift on the cartridge mounting plate. There is also an optional setscrew for greater control in fine-tuning tracking force adjustment. Finally, I just replaced the tonearm lift with a new one I received from Frank.  Interestingly enough, Schroeder and others favor 9” tone arms like this one for rigidity and other reasons.  So if you have always lusted after a Schroeder Reference but were put off by the thought of waiting for close to 2 years to get one, now is your chance to get one of these beauties that is even more special!!!!

NOTE: I will consider selling the turntable and tonearm separately. The Soundsmith Hyperion cartridge is not included, but will consider offers if interested.

Here is a chance to buy an absolute world-class turntable and arm ensemble for the price of an average unit!

Priced fairly at $7495 plus shipping.
