This set of audiophile line array speakers was designed by me for personal use under the Stereo Clarity brand name. If you've been to the Lone Star Audio Fest show then you've likely heard them on display in the Stereo Clarity exhibitor room. I'm selling them because, like most of my personal audio projects, I build and perfect a design and then sell it when I get the itch to design something else (mostly because I get bored).
They are 8ohm and need only about 10 watts to get loud but will accept over 250 with ease. More importantly, they are right about 96db efficient so they pair well with even lower powered tube amps. The crossover was voiced by ear following their first appearance at the Lone Star Audio Fest till I got it perfect. It took me a year and 4 different crossover designs but I finally got it right.
Each tower utilizes 9 x SB Acoustics SB17NRXC35-8 6.5" drivers, 5 x BG Neo10 planars, and 24 x Dayton ND16 5/8" neo silk dome tweeters. The enclosure was designed so there would be no parallel walls and is very well dampened. In fact, the enclosure construction is a bit like a snail shell with regards to what the midbass drivers see (picture included). This keeps the back-wave from reflecting and reentering the cone as distortion. The chamber is ported via two 4" flared ports in the rear yielding excellent low end response in room. The Neo10 planar midrange drivers are housed in their own separate enclosure volume. Because of the very wide operating range of the Neo10 midrange, I was able to crossover the tweeters fairly high. This resulted in lower distortion and better off axis response.
The assembly is made from CNC'd wood for the rear part of the enclosure. Each piece (72 per tower) was glued up and assembled by hand. The entire structure was reinforced by 3 layers of fiberglass on the inside of the enclosure. This increased enclosure strength and also helped stabilize the wood by closing off any pores. The front baffle was cut by a master wood worker by hand and is made from solid walnut. The towers have over $6,000 invested just in drivers, wood, and enclosure parts...not including my time and effort to build them. The towers do not include grills since I don't believe in anything being between a speaker and the listener.
Since the speakers are 6 feet tall, I'm not willing to ship and risk damaging them. I'm happy to deliver them within a 300 mile radius of Dallas Texas. Any additional driving would incur additional delivery costs to be paid by the buyer.
This this was my personal (non-retail) set and it's being sold AS IS. While not perfect, I'm listing them as 7/10 visually and 10/10 regarding acoustic functionality. The paint on the sides of the enclosures (the black part) isn't 100% perfect due to the wood layers settling. The paint imperfections are noticeable standing close but can't be seen from the front or if you're more than 10 feet away. These can very easily be touched up by any auto body shop as it's simple automotive paint. But as stated above, the speakers function 100% and I think you'll like what you hear.
