For your consideration is one of five hybrid power amps that Gary Dodd ever produced. It was released at the 2010 Lone Star Audio Show in Texas. http://www.enjoythemusic.com/Isaf_2010. I've had the pleasure of listening to his amp since 2014 after purchasing it from a fellow agoner. Downsizing my systems so this amp has to reluctantly go.

Here is an excerpt from Gary describing the prototype of this amp:

"I have a couple of new product prototypes sitting around here. The first item is the proto hybrid amp. It is a dual mono design, the only common part is the IEC connector everything else is x2. It is a Class A design and it produces 275 watts into 8 ohms per channel and 550 watts into 4 ohms per channel. The distortion at full power is 1%. At 200 watts 8 or 4 ohms thd is .015%. It is an incredibly musical and exciting amplifier to listen to. It does, (I hate to say) betters my 120 3rd gen amps by quite a bit! It weighs 90 pounds. It uses 2 5687's per channel and then has 8 per channel of the popular Hitachi Mosfets that are quite expensive and getting very hard to find. It uses timed relays to bring everything up in a controlled manner. It turns on quietly. In operation it is very quite. I have a lot of time and money invested in the development and building of this amp. It will have to be crated to be able to ship it safely."

In 2014 before I purchased this amp, the former owner sent it back to Gary for a loose RCA connector. During the time he was fixing that issue, Gary asked him if he could change the tube output? Of course the answer was YES so it was upgraded to run 12ax7's. In Gary's own words he described the sound of the amp being dead quiet and more powerful than it has ever been. He was very impressed with the amp as it had been a few years since he built it and heard it.

Can you say a tube rollers dream with the control of solid state? Since owning this amp, additional ax7's have been tried and will be included in this sale. All the tubes are matched, cryo-treated and purchased from reputable suppliers. RCA 7025's, Bentley/Brimar box plates, Amperex's, original NOS Tesla gold pins and Brimar's. Also included in the this sale are a custom made amp stand by Audiophile Vibration Control (AVC), Silnote Audio GS power cable and a custom made cover. I do have the original shipping crate but local pickup or meet within 150 miles of Minneapolis would be preferable.

Thank you for considering this almost one-of-a-kind Gary Dodd amp. Happy authoritative, musical and detailed listening with your future amp!

Please note, the reduced pricing is for pick-up or meet within 150 miles of Minneapolis. Shipping will be at actual expense, amp packed in original wood crate, stand and tubes sent in separate boxes.
