Garrard 301 Mexican Cocobolo Classic plinth by Woodsong Audio

Cocobolo... certainly one of the most beautiful, head turning woods in existence... A true Rosewood from Central America. The colors in Cocobolo range from reds, yellows, browns, and often with black stripes. Mexican Cocobolo is widely acknowledged as the most beautiful, and most sought after, exhibiting reddish hues and striking black lines. Panamanian Cocobolo tends towards yellows and oranges. Guatamalan and Nicaraguan Cocobolo tends towards dingy brown. In the past couple of years, all Cocobolo has become very difficult to get. We have a nice stash of Mexican Cocobolo, with numerous different examples of grain patterns and colors.

This listing is for the plinth only, with 4 Track Audio isolation devices, Furutech IEC AC inlet, wiring harness, 4 polished Stainless slot head mounting screws to match the original Garrard supplied hardware. 'The Original Classic'....

The Woodsong Classic 301 plinth features a round, rigidly mounted tonearm mount which can be loosened and rotated in its recess to allow for precision micro adjustment in the spindle-to-pivot mounting distance. Armboard materials include panzerholz with matching hardwood finish, bronze, austenitic stainless steel, man made slate, to name the most common options. The model shown is built for 12" tonearms. This plinth can be built to accommodate 9" - 13" tonearms, as well as with an oval shaped armboard for greater versatility in tonearm mounting.

The plinth is a true CLD design, built with Russian birch plywood, a layer of man made slate, and just the right amount of Panzerholz, vacuum pressed under nearly 2000 lbs/sq. ft., bonded with carefully chosen adhesives to achieve a composite solid core that is mechanically cohesive, void free, and that allows the energy generated during the playback of music to flow through the plinth unimpeded, while minimizing resonance.

4 Track Audio isolation devices are included as standard. Stillpoints SS, or Ultra 5 footers are available on request.

Woodsong Audio uses 1.8mm- 2mm thick veneers which we produce in house from boards which are hand selected for maximum aesthetic beauty, and long term durability. These are genuine solid wood veneers for wrapping the sides of rounded corner plinths, bent exactly like the sides of a guitar, prior to vacuum pressing. Other plinth makers use paper thin, inexpensive, commercially supplied veneers which are ironed on, or applied with contact cement.

Our signature finish is hand rubbed oil over highly polished wood. This needs to be seen in person to fully grasp the intense beauty of wood that is finished in this manner. Grain filled, top level instrument quality polished gloss, and polished matte clear coat finishes are also available, as well as any color of automotive paint, and 'soft touch' paint which, besides the fact that it looks really cool, stealth, it is also incredibly tough and nearly impossible to scratch or leave a mark on.
