Arcam FMJ CD23 Wonderful sounding CD Player with dcs Ring DAC technology!

The Esoteric is sold, but I have another wonderful-sounding CD player for you silver disc spinners! I am the original owner of this Arcam FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) CD23. In my continuing quest to have my digital front end sound as much like analog as possible, the FMJ has brought me closer than most. It's feature-laden, with HDCD decoding. But the real attraction of the player is its Ring DAC, which brings you the magic of dcs technology and sound for a fraction of the price. What is the Ring DAC? According to the dcs website: It is often the case in engineering that there comes a point beyond which the performance of an existing technology cannot practically be improved. When this happens further progress requires a totally new approach to be developed.This is exactly what happened when dCS invented the Ring DAC™. It offers excellent linearity, most notably at the low levels where other DACs fail, and as a result delivers unrivalled technical performance. For listeners this translates into a musical experience of breathtaking clarity and emotional intensity.

Please note that I do not have the original box, remote, or manual. Also note that the unit has some marker stains (hazards of little kids) but otherwise works perfectly. Finally, it came with plastic footers but I removed them and have since lost them. I use aftermarket footers that are much better, and I recommend you do the same. All of this explains the 7/10 rating.
