First Watt B-1

Enthusiast built First Watt B-1 using very high-quality parts, Including:

• PCB purchased from Nelson Pass 
• Cardas Solder 
• Kimber RCA Jacks 
• Vishay Dale Resistors throughout 
• 20K Ohm Alps Blue Velvet Potentiometer (for volume control)  
• Vishay BC Metallized Polypropylene Film Capacitors 
• Jantzen Audio Crosscap Capacitors 
• Soundcoat GP-3 Chassis Damping 
• Mundorf Silver/Gold PTFE Hookup Wire 
• Matched N-Channel JFETT's 
• HiFi2000 Chassis with 1CM Custom Machined Front Panel 

Basically, no expense has been spared to build the best B-1 buffer preamp possible. About $700 in parts alone.  

I use an induction heated curie point soldering iron to ensure the best possible connections while limiting the risk of damaging components.  

I also verify everything using a signal generator and oscilloscope, in addition to actually listening to it in my system.  

I built two B-1's, but it turns out I only need one (one of my amplifiers does not have enough gain for the B-1 to sound its best). So selling the second to someone who will actually get some use out of it.
