MSB Platinum DAC III, new in October, 2007. Condition closer to 8 than to 7. The digital filter board was upgraded to the
32X Signature version in June, 2008. The
new 8X input board, with the optional USB input, was installed in May, 2009. Three front panel push button switches, labeled as to their original functions as DAC Option, Phase Invert, and Filter Option, are now, with the upgraded digital filter board and the new input board, repurposed to use as 8x upsampling/no upsampling, Phase Invert, and Output Level 4 volts/2 volts.

| Does your Platinum DAC III have the 384 kHz sampling rate DAC chip upgrade? Yes it does. It is supposed to accept up to 384kHz on all inputs, but I have not had a source that can output that. My only USB source was a Windows without a special driver, so there I saw only 96 kHz, and can not comment on any other. The 384 kHz rate is used straight [NOS], or as an 8X upsampler as selected from a front panel control, which I have successfully used on AES/EBU, coax, and USB inputs. |
