Cary Audio SLP-05 With Ultimate Upgrade and Premium tubes

Superb well regarded and reviewed preamp. Just a few months ago, Cary gave it a check up, replaced worn parts, and the gave it the $1600 "Ultimate Upgrade" which resulted in a significant improvement in sound quality.

Comes with first rate premium tubes worth roughly $700: NOS CBS Hytron 5692 for the balanced sockets (best of the bunch, fantastic 6sn7 equivalent), 4 Psvane UK-6sn7s for the single ended sockets, 2 Electro-Harmonix Gold 6sn7s for the head phone stage, and NOS Mullard rectifier. CBS and Mullard have about 250 hours on them, the E-H less than 50, and the Psvane about 750.

Balance dials l/r have been taken out of the circuit to improve sq, but as a result no longer function.

I rated this 7/10 based on Audiogon ciriteria. However, the only marks, scratches, blemishes I could find are on the right side of the power supply (pictured). I never noticed the small chips in the paint until I gave the thing the once over for sale.
