This is Steve's new reference digital cable, released  January, 2018. I have owned the top MIT and Black Cat as well as Stealth Varidig Sextet S/PDIFcables in past years, and this cable is as good or better than them all. It is not to be confused with Steve's older "Standard" BNC digital cable, which I also owned but found not nearly as good as the pricey MIT, Black Cat and Stealth cables. The new Reference cable lives up to its name at 25% or so the cost of these other top digital cables. For those who use RCA connectors for S/PDIF, the RCA adapters were supplied by Steve as appropriate for his cable. Also note  Steve's recent comments on his Audio Circle forum:
"I have been building cables since 1996.  What I discovered is that it is more important to properly terminate the coax to the connector than what type of connector it is, RCA or BNC.  RCA connectors are not designed to be terminated to every type of coax with minimal impedance discontinuity.  BNCs are.

If the optimum BNC for the particular cable is selected, the cable can be terminated with minimal impedance discontinuity.  There is not just one type of 75 ohm BNC connector.  There are hundreds of them, depending on the cable.

The BNC-RCA adapter creates a minimal impedance discontinuity compared to terminating the coax directly to a RCA connector.  Most customers end-up using an RCA adapter on at least one end.

Steve N."

I just received a new Naim Uniti Nova, which receives digital input directly from my sonicTransport i7 server via LAN connection, so I no longer use S/PDIF.
This cable is as new.
