1. High end, large professional studio monitors. Rarely seen for sale used; folks seldom part with them. The sound is close to full range, but they are stand mount. In my 5,290 cu. ft. listening room (21' X 28'X 9') I choose to augment the bass with a subwoofer.

These are very efficient, 96 dB, two way bass reflex monitors employing a proprietary, rapidly flared, 12 inch toulipier wood horn (AKA: tulip poplar or yellow poplar, although not actually poplar, but a hardwood.) for mids and highs and a 12 inch bass driver. This horn design has great advantages over conventional drivers in terms of dynamics and in generating a phase coherent wave front with snappy transients. At the same time, the proprietary horn design overcomes timbre and dispersion anomalies characteristic of classic horns. Each speaker has a five step tone control, +/- 3 dB, that attenuates or boosts only the horn. On the zero setting the tone control is out of the circuit.

2. These speakers are magical. The performer's presence is immediate. They portray the human voice, from opera to jazz, with uncanny fidelity. The mid-range is glorious and blends seamlessly with the treble. I recommend a medium to large room--not very suitable for near-field listening.

3. The cabinet finish is matte black rubberized material that is durable, is user friendly-requiring little dusting and not showing fingerprints, and serves a damping function, as well. There are some burnished areas and small scrapes/dents on the cabinets that I have tried to show in the photos. The finish on the wood horns is flawless. The beauty of these monitors is in the design, not in high gloss wood veneers. The woofers have heavy duty corrugated cloth surrounds. The woofer chassis' are cast and very substantial. The components in the monitors are of the same high quality found in the Zingali Home Monitor models.

6. I purchased these speakers in 2006 from Mr. Randy Bankert (R.I.P.), the former North American distributor for Zingali, after auditioning them in his home in Studio City, CA. They were shipped to me, to Mt. Vernon, WA, in their wooden crates via FedEx. The woofer in one of the speakers was not working. With Mr. Bankert's instruction I removed the woofer and found the problem: an inductor in the crossover had broken loose. I re-attached the inductor and re-soldered it using Cardas Quad Eutectic Solder. The speaker has worked fine ever since.

7. You will need high quality partners with these speakers and poor recordings will sound poor. High quality recordings will sound spectacular. Even though they are efficient, Mr. Bankert recommended against using SET amplification because of the bass reflex design. Push-pull tube amps and high quality solid state amps are optimum with this design. Mr. Bankert wrote an article regarding horn loudspeakers for "Enjoy the Music": "Horn Loudspeaker Design and Theory". (http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/man) Mr.  Bankert went on to design and develop his own speaker line called: "Sonist".

Please see the "Audio Review" online site for reviews of Zingali Overture, 2, 3, an 4 models. The 112's are a step up from these in terms of quality of components and of size.

8. Stands: The stands that you see in the photos were custom fabricated and have a granite base, stainless steel riser and an aluminum top plate. They work quite well, but are very heavy. Free with local pickup or delivery at asking price. Because of the weight, shipping may not be cost effective.

9. Buyer pays PayPal fees and freight fees if shipped. $250.00 discount from asking price for local pickup.
