Up for sale is my BMC S1 Stereo Amplifier in excellent condition. This was purchased as a low hour demo model from an authorized dealer in September 2017. It has seen minimal use by me and at the time of purchase the dealer wrote “Hours are low, (estimated under 500) as we are a home-based dealer and do not leave multiple amps on in the shop 24/7 like brick and mortar dealers. We turn on and warm up amps by appointment.”
Again, condition is near perfect, but with a small scrape on the upper top of the front edge that is very difficult to see even a foot away (see photo – difficult to capture). It came to me that way. The S1 has a beautiful VU display and especially at night - gorgeous.
BMC amps are extraordinarily high current, and this amp will easily drive the most awkward of speaker loads to the speaker’s full dynamic performance potential. It is the current in amplifiers that exerts control over the drivers, enabling them to accelerate and deaccelerate quickly for a taut and extended sense of bottom end control. Among other things, this amp is highly resolving – yields excellent imaging and separation and has a soundstage with noteworthy depth and exemplary dynamics. I enjoyed it greatly but events dictate a sale.
The BMC S1 is a Load Effect Free (LEF) amplifier for lifelike dynamics and realism. The crucial secret of the S1 is that it avoids distortion instead of compensating for it through negative feedback.
The Dealer successfully paired the S1 with $50K 4 ohm dynamic speakers, and it sounded almost as good as a pair of $36K monoblocks. I drove my 4 ohm Gauder Akustik Cassiano’s and they never sounded better. This is a near-bargain selling price and there is still a warranty on the unit, but am checking now for transferable status and exact time remaining. Will update. Purchase with confidence – I have a solid history on Audiogon under the same name.
ALSO: This unit comes with a Synergistic Research BLUE Quantum Fuse already installed ($150). Original boxing and manual included. This amp has both RCA and XLR inputs, as well as a proprietary "current injection" input when used with the BMC DAC Pre (HR) via glass fiber optic TosLink cable (this cable will also be included). Even if you don't have a BMC DAC Pre or DAC Pre (HR), the S1 works stupendously with any other tube or solid state preamp of commensurate quality. I used it with a Cary SLP-05 – awesome. Shipping costs paid by Buyer with a flat rate of $150.00 including insurance. Thanks for looking.
