Martin Logan changes the names of their speakers (too) often.  Their electrostatic line usually features small, medium and large hybrids along with a non-hybrid CLS model.  The Ascent i, at $4500, was ML's mid-size offering from 2004 to 2011. The Impression 11A, at $9995, is the Ascent's current descendent.

This pair is in excellent shape.  The drivers (panels and woofers) are perfect and sound that way. Cosmetically, I cannot find a blemish on any of the wood panels. There are some minor, shallow blemishes on the black speakers sides.  Zoom in on the photos to see.

I want to inform you that the front grills have black duct tape on the inside bottoms to keep them rigid and smooth. If you lean the speakers forward (never do this), a small horizontal crease can form near the bottom of the grills.  The tape straightens out the crease.  The grills look perfect unless you're lying on the floor in front of them. See the photos. This is a lot of text for a non-issue, but my seller did not alert me, and it made me grumpy.

The sound the Ascents produce is everything you want from electrostatic speakers.  The smooth, effortless midrange and treble are magical, as is the deep, wide and tall soundstage, and the location of individual voices within that space.  The piston woofers integrate in very well to my ear, and produce the low frequency goods.  I've not felt the desire for a sub-woofer.

They've played very well in medium and small rooms. I've often listened to them near-field, in a 6x6x6 triangle. And they sound fine as close as 20" from the wall behind them (measured from the panels).

I am selling them because I have lost my dedicated listening room and have to move to monitors or small floor standers. This is a painful parting for me, but it's an excellent opportunity for you to enter the sublime world of Martin Logan electrostatics.

At full price I will drive from Atlanta as far as Tampa, Louisville, Mobile or Raleigh to deliver them or to meet you.
