Bottlehead Paramount Single Ended Triode Amps with Western Electric 300B + More!

One very special pair Bottlehead Paramount 300B single-ended-triode amplifiers. They were originally built by an electrical engineer and then upgraded to the V1.1 Soft Start by a professional electronics tech. As should be expected, the build, wiring and soldering are exceptional!

These amps come with all of the following upgraded parts and tubes (note that all of the tubes test Like New/Strong):

- Magnequest FULL NICKEL BH-5 output transformers and BH-7 plate chokes.
- Each amp has two VCAP TFTF and one Mundorf Silver/Oil Parafeed capacitor.
- Matched Pair of 1998 reissue Western Electric 300Bs (Test 84/84, 58 is GOOD on TV7).
- Pairs of Tung-Sol Round Plate and 1943 Raytheon VT-231/6SN7s, with adapters.
- Pair of Western Electric 396As with Herbies Halo tube dampers.
- Each amp has a Hi-Fi Tuning Supreme fuse.
- Each amp has a Blumenstein natural finish Bamboo base.
- Each amp has upgraded WBT speaker binding posts.
- Each amp has an upgraded Mills resistor and Elna Cerafine capacitor.

Each of these upgrades is an improvement but combined brings these amps to the top of SET amp class. I have heard a number of other 300B amps. Some sound “boring” and others sound weak in the bass, treble or both. Not these! Just smooth, rich, full-tone with excellent response at the frequency extremes.

Overall, I rate the cosmetic condition an 8. The top-plates are a 7 and everything else is a 9. Electronically, they work perfectly. The reason for this sale is that I’m currently running FOUR 300B monoblocks, biamping with an electronic crossover. My goal is to downsize/simplify by replacing those five components with a single stereo amplifier.

Included in the sale are the original Bottlehead manuals, DVDs and receipts for many of the extra items. The amps will be expertly packed, including double boxing at no extra charge. NOTES: I can reduce the price by $1000 to $2250 by substituting a like new pair of JJ 300Bs for the WE 300Bs. The last photo shows the amps in my system (only the BH Paramounts are included in this sale). As you can see, it’s a bit crowded there between the speakers.
