McIntosh MX150 7.1 A/V Surround Sound Processor

For sale is this very nice MX150 which has been fully upgraded to the MX151 via firmware and features the 3DHDMI upgrade. 

This unit was tested for functionality by Pyramid Audio in Austin, Tx and came away with no issues.

It comes with the power cord and a proper McIntosh Labs Inc. packing box. (The box is labeled for an MX122). I’m also including a brand new Harmony 650 replacement remote that features a color screen.

It does not have the original manual nor does it have the RoomPerfect microphone, stand or cable. But you can easily get a replacement microphone for about $50 to $100 dollars online and be able to use the outstanding Room Correction function of the MX150, one of the best selling features of this particular unit, all at a fraction of the original price. For the just the sound processing, home theater sound and room correction features, this is a great way to get a complete McIntosh preamp and get into the McIntosh game. If you want the very latest in video processing, it’s better to just have a dedicated HDMI switcher that feeds into your TV anyway. McIntosh is all about the music (and sound).

The glass is perfect, no chips, bubbles or anything wrong. 

At the top of the front there are two spots that had a scratch on the metal and there was some ink applied to hide it. You can’t even really tell unless you are really looking for it and you are at the right angle of light, not a big deal at all.

The VFD display which, when turned on at first, seems a bit dim. After warming up it gets better and seems fine. But there are still some little areas, depending on the text, that seem slightly dimmer than neighboring text, (even after warming up.) I have included a picture to better show this. It’s strange because usually the VFD displays are known for their longevity and robustness. I was quoted about $500 to have it replaced but it’s not bad enough in my opinion to justify the expense. You can see in the pictures it seems fine but the photos do make it seem brighter than it is in reality. Still, you can see how it’s not that bad.

The second is that the MX150 supports a complete web-based configuration and control via an internal web application. Connect an Ethernet cable to the MX150 and the processor automatically configured itself onto your home network. Opened a browser, connect to the IP address of the MX150, and there is an application for configuring the MX150. (refer to manual for full set up instructions). (Note: One of the MX150 Zone A Video OUTPUTS must be connected to the video input of a Monitor/TV for viewing the On Screen Menus.)
