OPPO BDP-105 EVS modded

I wasn't able to resist purchasing the latest UDP-205 before Oppo becomes a part of history so therefore considering to sell my beloved and modified to the max BDP-105.

I was the very first customer of Ric Shultz' from EVS in the fall of 2002 when BDP-105 was just released in the US.
This unit spent a few months with electronics guru when he was applying all magic to it.
As the result it got all the mods described in this information URL

plus optional Audio Magic Pulse Gen ZX ($400 USD).
It's worth mentioning that ONLY this particular unit has DAC tweaked also - Ric later decided that it's too complex and time consuming to do it for all other players.

After a couple of years I noticed that Ric even further improved the unit offering jfet buffers for outputs avoiding op-amps
for super pure sound. I ordered it for L,R,C channels also at the same time asked him to convert rear channels to balanced and replace switching secondary power supply to a linear one.
Totally spent close to $3000 in all the costs associated with the mods.

Out of curiosity compared EVS modded player side by side with Linn Klimax ver1 which was $20K USD and there was no any doubt which unit sounded better. Ric's ideology is that sound has to be uncolored and transparent and he is replacing all the parts which mess up with that providing world class equipment.

I really doubt that you'll be able to find any better sounding options especially at this price point.
