I built this Bottlehead Smash pre-amplifier kit myself, two years ago. Then later I installed the Smashup upgrade kit, which significantly increases the headroom (all new kits come with this upgrade as standard now).
The sound is lovely and delicate, with plenty of headroom to drive any power amp with reasonable input sensitivity. It's always performed flawlessly in my system.
Condition is very good. There is one small mark on the top plate, which was there from initial assembly. It's visible in the last picture.
The wood is alder, which I stained slightly to enhance the grain, and then applied 4 coats of spar varnish, rubbing down with rottenstone to get a slightly matted finish. It looks gorgeous. One picture shows a closeup of the grain.
Comes with IEC power cord and a set of spare tubes.
