I have decided to part ways with my beloved Shindo Cortese F2a power amplifier. This amplifier has rightly been described as "delicious" by many, and was one of the first Shindo amplifiers I heard so many years ago. Designed and built by Ken Shindo, this was love at first sight--and hear--as they say.
This amplifier has been part of my second system, and, as such, it has been lightly used. The F2a tubes are conservately rated at 10,000 hours, so this amplifier is barely scratching the surface in terms of usage.
Having had many issues with big-box shippers in the past literally destroying amps during shipping, I decided to hand-carry this to SF. Lo and behold, the wonderful people at TSA put UPS et al to shame, managing to scratch the amp in the top left corner while taking it out of my carry-on case for bomb detection; please see the picture. Such is life sometimes. This was many years ago, and I had forgotten about it until I took pictures for this listing. Other than that, the unit is in good condition, with only a few marks here and there where the tube cage sits. I would normally rate this at an 8 or 9, but because of the sizeable scratch, I'm conservatively rating this at a 6 or 7.
I bought this straight from a Shindo dealer many years ago, and have taken good care of it.
Please note that this amplifier works best with sensitive speakers that present an easy load. If you have any questions, please ask.
