Vandersteen 5a

These speakers have been babied. Long before needed, I recently had the crossovers’ batteries replaced by the factory.  They are about 11 years old. This pair is in custom cherry finish with black hoods, in excellent condition.  Kept in a smoke free and pet free home.

Vandersteen 5A speakers are one of the most critically acclaimed models of all time, loved for their remarkable 3D soundstage presentation, incredibly natural tonal character, and powerful bass response.  The 5A's have onboard powered subwoofers with built-in 11 point parametric equalizer, allowing setup that creates very linear bass response in the listening room.  The 5A's require the use of Vandersteen’s M5-HP high pass filter (included), which goes in between a preamp and power amp.  

There is just a very slight bit of pilling in the fabric (picture doesn't show it) on one and a very small nick in a bottom corner (see picture).  Neither is noticeable.  The nick would vanish with a little danish oil.  Since I use aftermarket power cords, I removed a little aluminum around the 15 amp subwoofer receptacles to allow room for for the larger power cord termination.

Audio Connection, a major Vandersteen dealer in the New Jersey area, is available to the purchaser for phone guidance on exactly setting the parametric equalizer to your room.  That's how I did it since I have no local Vandersteen dealer -- with help over the phone. The speakers sound amazing before the final bass adjustments. After the adjustments, they sound better than you may think possible for any speakers. This is a benefit rarely available when buying these speakers from audiophiles.
