OPPO Sonica DAC EVS Modified

   Oppo Sonica DAC. Modified by Ric at EVS. The Sonica uses the revered ESS Sabre Pro DAC chipset, and Ric transformed this already excellent DAC into a stellar unit. You can use this as a wireless streamer, or connect it directly to your PC/ music server. Connecting the unit is easy, and is controlled by an app with your phone or tablet. Among other things the modification disabled the balanced outputs for what he calls the super single modification. This uses the DAC’s that are dedicated to the balanced outputs and doubles up the single ended outputs. Before the modification the Sonica was a great value. It has many glowing reviews comparing it to DACS costing many times more, and besting them. After the modification that EVS performed I could not believe all the detail I was missing. Once again, my system was transformed by this DAC. Soundstage became deeper. Instruments have more air around them. The base, which was already deep, became more articulate and alive, much faster.     I am only selling this unit, because I bought an Oppo UDP-205 and had it modified by Ric.
