For sale is an almost-new Grace F-9E together with a SoundSmith Ruby-CL replacement stylus.
I purchased this Grace F-9E brand new from LP Gear two years
ago, NOS, for $1,000. Immediately, I replaced the factory stylus with a new
SoundSmith F-9 Ruby-CL.
The original F-9E stylus has less than 1 hour of playing time on it. The
SoundSmith Ruby-CL has less than 50 hours of playing time. You will
receive both styli.
The cartridge itself has a total or around 50 hours of playing time on it. It is in perfect functional condition and comes with all the original packaging and documentation. I haven’t played it much because I have 17 other cartridges in my collection.
I'm selling because I recently found a rare NOS Grace F-14, which is an upgraded version of the F-9. Yes, it does sound a bit better. Otherwise, no way I'd sell. The Grace F-9E is a classic for good reason.
Please note: there are some very small scrapes on the cartridge body, which are covered when either stylus assembly is in place. These were caused by a defective SoundSmith replacement stylus with a housing that was just a smidge too narrow, scraping the sides when installed. Peter Ledermann of SoundSmith admitted the production error, apologized profusely, and quickly sent a new one that fits perfectly. That's the one you'll receive. The scrapes in no way affect the performance of the cartridge. And as the pics show, you can't really see them with the stylus in place, anyway, even the translucent stock one.
Read my feedback and buy with confidence. Lowball offers will be politely ignored.
