Eico HF81

Completely Restored  Eico HF81 Integrated tube amplifier

 

These amps
are rated at 14 watts per channel and feature a built in phono stage.

The amp has
been restored with the following work completed:

A complete
bare chassis restoration..chassis cleaned and rca jacks labelled at back.

New Belton  tube sockets and shields in phono/preamp section,
 and  in power/ pre-driver section . Original
sockets for  rectifier tubes.

Completely
rewired with stranded 22 guage wire.

All new
power supply capacitors, 2 40uf/450v , can cap was replaced with a JJ 100uf
dual at 500v, plus an additional 68 uf /250v under the chassis.

 All the small caps were replaced with silver
mica, bypass caps were polypropylene.

Coupling
caps in the preamp section and power amp section are all PIO K40 Russian and
all other small electrolytic caps  also
new.

 Resistors
in the  power supply rail are metal oxide
, plate resistors are Kiwame 2 watt carbon film and all others are carbon film.

The
original speaker terminals and all rca jacks were replaced with binding posts
for the speakers and gold rca jacks for the inputs.

The speaker
terminals have the 4 ohm and 8 ohm taps connected to the binding posts.

The 4 ohm
tap is next to the black terminal.

The
original rca jacks were terrible in these amps, making bad contacts and having
intermittent grounds. The new rca jacks are tight and have a solid ground. This
comes with a new Heyboer extra heavy duty power transformer, which has more
metal core and the heaters can handle a few extra amps than their regular
replacement version.

It comes
with a new power cord.

The Input
selector  was replaced with a new 6x2
switch, and thus all the RIAA phono equalization components have been installed
under the chassis. This improves the phono section drastically in this amp with
NO HUM!!

There are 3
line inputs now, 1 phono and 1 line out.

The
mono/stereo blend switch has been bypassed along with the mono switch on the
chassis. The on/off switch on the treble shaft has been moved to the old tape
switch on the front and a new switch installed.

The volume
pot has been replaced with an ALPS 250k and shaft extender to utilize the
original knob.

have been tested and checked for leakage and shorts.

All the output
transformers are original.

 The chassis front, and sides and top grill
have been repainted..looks great!!

The faceplate
was cleaned and looks very nice. It has all the original knobs.

This one is
dead quiet, with no hum, all the controls were cleaned and are quiet.

The chassis
is not perfect on this unit, it had some rust spots which have been cleaned and
polished. Also there was a hole on the right side panel which someone had
installed a switch to replace the broken one on the end of the treble control,
and thus a plastic plug was installed. Other than these 2 flaws it is in very
nice shape for the age.

I have
lowered the price a bit on this unit to reflect the 2 flaws mentioned.
