Distributor demo unit.  Decent condition (a couple of small dings on the top plate).  I took some photos of the exact unit.  Dust cover is clean - rarely used.
Since the introduction of PD-171 into the market in 2011, this highly admired analog player delivers the music, rhythm & drive that we all love so much in vinyl records. We upgraded the electronics to the revised speed control from the PD-171A.

Table
comes with a  new Jelco TS-350S tonearm. It does not come with a cartridge or phono cable.  Your choice of new, unopened black Jelco headshell or silver Luxman headshell.        We could mount any cartridge you wish, you just need to supply.

This particular table has both the high gloss black trim as well as the faux mahogany wooden trim.  This is the unit that was reviewed by Art Dudley for Stereophile.

Inquire about our recommendations and options for cartridge, phono cable, and decoupling system to get the best out of this beautiful sounding table that holds its own when compared with other higher-priced counterparts. Reach out to On A Higher Note for options to have your table installed per your specs so you can plug and play when the merchandise arrives.

"The Luxman PD-171’s stylish if retro exterior conceals a design that is absolutely contemporary. With stunning engineering and intelligent digital control electronics, the PD-171 is a delight to use. It offers a captivating musical performance."

Hi-Fi News, November 2014

"Blue Note Records classics such as Wayne Shorter’s Speak No Evil, remastered on a 45 rpm LP, rendered Shorter’s tenor sax with body, timbre, and explosive dynamics that placed the horn right in the room. Bach’s Art of the Fugue, performed on organ by Charles Krigbaum and pressed on a rare 45 rpm Mark Levinson LP from 1976, plumbed the depths; one could feel the pipes moving the air in a large, reverberant hall."

Robert Ross, The Robb Report August 2014

"The Luxman PD-171 establishes such a high standard for the sound quality that can be had at this price point, it’s bound to make many of us recalibrate our expectations and budget for a turntable purchase. You can save your pennies, but who wants to listen to pennies? My new plan of action is to make sure I’m listening to records right now, and not pining for some lottery win turntable, but to also steadily work for the vast improvement that the next level can produce. If you’re ready to reach that destination right now by purchasing a Luxman PD-171/Brinkmann Pi combination right now, I think you’ll be very pleased, indeed. Highly recommended."

Dean Sieslove, Positive Feedback October 2013

"The music blossomed into the room with stunning presence and lifelike scale. This was luxurious sound with a beautiful sense of space, natural attacks, and long, lovely decays."

Stephen Mejias, Stereophile, CAS 2011

Questions for the seller
black or mahogany trim?
Mahogany trim. This table was never sold. Used by Frank Schröder to develop a tone arm for the Luxman table.
Which arm and cartridge do you recommend? How much does this add to the price?
Jelco arms are terrific value. If you want to spend more money, SME M29R is recommended by Luxman during our tenure. Cartridge we recommend soundsmith cartridges available at many price points. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions.
