McINTOSH MC-2300 COMMERCIAL GRADE AUDIOPHILE WELL SERVICED POWER AMP This amp is owned by an audio technician of the highest calibre. His father was Dean of Electrical Engineering at Tulane University. He had lived, breathed and grown up with advanced electronics. He has worked servicing major audio and TV brands for decades. His shop was authorized McIntosh repair center. He had fixes published by manufacturers. He re-builds parts when there are none available. This is his own amp used in his band.... audio technician that also plays music! But, he is older now and does not use the amp. He replaced one of the fans with the actual McIntosh original fans, which is very very rare. He has tons of test equipment and taken care of this amp over the years ... it is his baby. But, he is now retired and is not using it. The MC-2300 is one of most famous McIntosh amps. It is a solid state... all transistor, American made amp. It was sold from 1971 to 1980. It is 300 watts RMS conservative McIntosh watts into 8 ohms or bridged 600 watts mono. Total Harmonic Distortion rated .25% THD. As bench tested does far more power. 20 to 20kHz .25% 8 ohms. These amps were used by the Grateful Dead. 48 of these amps produced 26,000 watts "Wall of Sound" with JBL and Electrovoice speakers. It is designed for 19 inch rack mounting. Weight is 128 pounds. It uses McIntosh autotransformer technology, output transformers hand wound by McIntosh to sure full power at all impedances and over the full audio range. Although the photos don't show it well, this amp has a golden front panel, not silver which was used in earlier production runs. All the photos are of this actual amp. The amp is old and has been used. These is some discoloring of screws, scuffs on the cabinet. There is some oxidation on some screws. BUT THIS AMP PERFORMS PERFECTLY AND SOUND GREAT!!!!!! The amp has been carefully boxed with excess cushioning and double boxed. It will be shipped on a pallet on a partial wooden crate.
