Response 2S in Cherry - Recent New Midbass Drivers (complete, not refoam)

Pretty awesome...check the reviews...only for sale as have a deal in the works for a set of Proac 3.5, which I may like a bit better...

On my personal rating scale (not the official Audiogoner which I find a bit severe - I give an 8 there) - condition is strong 8.5, maybe a 9 out of 10, as compared to several other unrestored sets. Very close to flawless veneer, bit of damage to the foam that surrounds the tweeters...cosmetic only.

Factory boxes with all packaging and brochure, and  think one other info bit.

The famous Scanspeak 8543 (or is it 7543?) midbass drivers - as used on several of the Response models but not since the 90s... have been replaced with brand new complete drivers from Proac - I think about 2 years of light use on them. This is a big deal - as surrounds are foam, and seems very hard to get them refoamed properly to match the orginal sound. Proac recommends replacing complete drivers - which is what happned here. After the former owner tried a refoam, he didn't like the sound. So he bought new drivers - at a very substantial cost of about $500- 600 each - old price. I hear than current replacements are $700-1000 - Canadian but still real coin ?!!

The 2S is a later version of Response 2, with bass port changed to rear. Supposed to be better bass.

Anyhow...if you know what these are, you also know they don't come around often - especially in such nice shape.

A couple of extra cost options maybe of interest

Option - Atlantis Stands

These are very similar to the Target RS2 stands all the reviewers of the day said were critical in the sound. They seem to be clones of the Target actually. I hear again and again how these speakers must have really good stands to make the most magic.

The Atlantis apparently cost about $700 Canadian new, compared to $1000 for Target. These stands are all metal...and are very well built. Weigh about 20 lbs each or more - and then you load them with sand and/or shot. Very nice shape.
I even have factory boxes (2) for them. And paperwork, and allen wrench. These stands rock and not keen to sell them, as I have other bookshelf speakers. But in interests of making the 2S perform as they should, I will part ways. Thinking $400 US extra.

Option - ER One Proac subwoofer - also in cherry. Factory box. Again, very nice condition as in 8 on Audiogon, 8.5 to 9 my personals scale. I bought these from same owner as the 2S, thinking I may want to fatten up the bass a bit. But ive never even taken it out of the box, so far anyhow.

Like to recover my investment - $1100 US.

Would do the speakers, stands, and sub for $3400 package.

Shipping extra, actual cost. No charge for packing or materials.

With factory boxes and foams I wouldn't be afraid to ship these. But if I do, no returns or refunds - as cant control the care along the journey.

At your request, I'll overwrap the factory boxes with shippers pallet wrap to keep the boxes nice, and then double box them with heavy bubblewrap between another layer of cardboard.

If you want the deluxe packaging (recommended), you'll need to allow some time for me to get it done.

Will take a week maybe 2 to ship after payment, as not only does packing take time - I work 2 jobs both out of town so am not always around my equipment.

Shipping from Canada not the cheapest, but wont be horrific - as the speakers aren't that large or heavy. Probably run about $300-350 US shipped and insured for loss. Canada Post. I'll have to verify shipping as that's a guess, educated one but still a guess.

May not be worth shipping the stands, as box and weight nearly as much as speakers.

These are central Alberta, Canada.
