Even in today’s high-end market it is rare that a cable manufacturer makes their own connectors made particularly for their cables. Instead, they choose a standard component made by a third party. This leads to constrictions on the design of the cable, and in many cases compromise fit and finish because of the layers of heat shrink that compensate for poor strain relief and/or mismatch between the cable and the connector.

Further, as you have without doubt noticed, many cable manufacturers have a very intense focus on the purity of the metal used for their conductors, leading to claims of 99.9999999% purity by some manufacturers. However, the connectors that are mounted on these so-called high-purity cables are surprisingly often made of metal that is a copper alloy such as brass, bronze, and in the best cases Tellurium copper. So, all of sudden purity is not so important anymore?? 

Enter Argento. The connectors on Argento’s Organic cables are made especially for the Organic Audio products. Organic Audio connectors do not use brass or any other copper alloy for contacts. Instead the contacts are made of the same type of copper used for their conductors. Because the connectors are composed of all copper, and without brass, they are more conductive than many other conductors. 

“Ours are probably 20 times more conductive than a standard Neutrik connector” says Ulrik Madsen, Argento’s owner and designer.  The company also has a patented system to make a tight connection. Organic Audio cables use a very lightweight fluffy fiber as insulation to hold internal wire in place, which creates a mostly air dielectric. This results in a cable with very low dielectric constant, which results in greater neutrality. In Madsen’s opinion, low resonance cables make for a lovely calmness and increased dynamics. “This is what makes these cables stand out,” Madsen explained. “Everything is made in house; nothing is off-the-spool.”
